The songs included on The Fruit That's Never Ripe were written in 2016 and 2017, recorded in 2018, and left to ripen in a cloud storage folder until it felt like the right time to release them. As it turned out, I never felt ready to give this work the push I thought it deserved. It was a transitional period of my life and for the band. I had left my full time job as a cabinet maker to start touring and playing with other acts, and I was having some trouble figuring out what I wanted to do with my life, long term. So, there they sat until a few days ago.

Almost all of my favorite shows I've ever played have hosted by the Southgate House Revival, it's always been somewhere I could count on to feel comfortable and appreciated and now, in this small way, I'd like to try to give something back: 100% of all album sales in May 2020 will be donated to our favorite local venue in hopes that she opens again. Though the price of this album is low, we've allowed the option for you to pay more if you'd like and ask that you keep the donation to SGHR in mind when purchasing.

I wanted this EP to be a marked departure from the more traditional singer songwriter records I've made in the past to something more organic. The band itself as functioning organism, moving and reacting to the feedback of the other limbs, and in that I think we succeeded. I've got so much love for the people involved in making this and I'm glad these songs are finally gonna get some light.
